SEDC Seeks Executive Director
Strafford Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is seeking an Executive Director. The current Executive Director is retiring after several decades with SEDC. During that time, the Executive Director organized a team that has placed SEDC in a position for long-term success.
About SEDC
SEDC is an independent nonprofit corporation that specializes in providing and locating financial assistance for businesses in southeastern New Hampshire. SEDC's mission is to support projects that create new jobs or secure existing jobs.
SEDC also serves as a central point of contact for businesses, connecting them with municipal, state, and federal agencies, other nonprofits, banks, and investors.
About the Position
The Executive Director is responsible for developing and delivering short- and long-range programs and services designed to increase the economic vitality of the Strafford County region and beyond.
The position includes working cooperatively with local, county, state, and national governmental bodies. The Executive Director will also develop closer relationships with local and state agencies and organizations that support SEDC's mission.
The position requires confidentiality, a high degree of independence, and considerable judgment. The Executive Director represents SEDC and responds to inquiries or requests for assistance from potential clients and public and private partners.
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors and operates under its supervision and direction.
Qualifications
SEDC is seeking candidates with:
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for business retention, expansion, and attraction and to develop and promote sustainable economic and community development activities.
Skills in business development, outreach programs and services, and proposal or grant writing.
Considerable knowledge of economic and community development and small business banking practices.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Management experience, including leading small teams, as well as budgetary experience.
Knowledge of economic and community development financing programs, counseling, or technical assistance is a plus.
